Van Der Merwe: Tough Players in Mobile

MOBILE, Al -- Some tough players remain in the Newton Cox USTA Men's Professional Tennis Classic. That was the summation of Izak Van Der Merwe who lost to Artem Sitak 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 at the Newton Cox Tennis Center.

"Everyone has a chance. Everyone is playing well," Van Der Merwe said, who was really gracious at a time when he was commiserating his loss.

Van Der Merwe lost to Artem Sitak, winner of the last Futures tournament which was held in McAllen, Texas. "He's a good player," Van Der Merwe said. "He is quick on the court."

Sitak plays Travis Rettenmaier in the semifinals.
