MOBILE, Al -- Michael Yani feels like a dragon slayer. He took out the number one seed in the Newton Cox USTA Men's Professional Tennis Event.
"It was one of those three-hour battles," Yani said after the match. "He is really tough; a good player. Fast. Tough to beat. I had to beat him. He wasn't giving me anything. It was one of those three-hour battles. I was pretty content to come out on top."
Winning has something to do with it, but Yani said he is enjoying himself at this tournament which is also known as the Mobile Futures. "The courts, the conditions. I'm playing well. I'm going to see what I can do."
Although the radio is occasionally announcing tornado and storm warnings in the area, it actually is great playing conditions. The clouds threaten rain, but the clouds are actually a buffer from the sun. There is a wind, just enough to keep cool, not enough to affect the matches.
Yani and Ryler De Heart, two great friends and road-mates play against each other in the semifinal Saturday.

Thankyou very much for the pictures!! Have you got others??
I was using a new telephoto lens for the first time (a lot of cut off heads). The two of Lugassy I published were the best ones; I'll see if I have more.
Another Gary Lugassy picture in the story Mobile Futures Scores.
