Gary Lugassi, winner of 12 Futures tournaments, is headlining the Mobile, Alabama professional tennis event starting April 7. The twenty-six-year-old Frenchman won in Croatia, Ireland and two Futures in England last year. Lugassi, a left-hander is ranked 220 and is coached by Anthony Desjardins.
Lugassi will be accompanied by his countryman Josselin Ouanna, who won two Futures tournament. Lugassi is ranked number one and Ouanna number two.
The third-ranked player in Mobile will be Izak Van Der Merwe of South Africa. Van Der Merwe, an avid golfer, won three Futures championship last year, including Baton Rouge where he defeated Michael McClune, Uladzimir Ignatik and Carsten Ball.
Carsten Ball is number eight in Mobile.
